Oh Seakrest, My Seakrest

When I was a wee (shout out to Ang here!)little girl we used to spend at least a week with my mom's side of the family at the beach every summer. We always stayed at a lodge owned by my cousin's church called Seakrest. This was the highlight of my year. The family started going in the late 70's and we stopped going in the late 90's. Every year I would think about what to pack for weeks and then be packed for at least a week in advance. So many of my childhood memories are from this place. There is something about it to me that just exemplifies serenity and peacefulness. It calms me and makes me feel safe. I was devastated when we stopped going. This past weekend we were able to go back there and it was so nice! Jered came with me and although it was probably nothing to him, it was really fun for me to be able to share it with him. It had been about ten years since I'd been there. It's funny to me how things "change" even though they really don't. I kept commenting on how things seemed smaller, how the walk down to the beach was not nearly as long as I remember, how the distance between the our house and the rocks was cut in half, etc. My memories as a child and expectations as an adult did not match up. But it was still nice. I was stressed out the whole way there, but as soon as we pulled into the parking lot it all melted away. We were only there for a day but it was worth it. There was no skit night, no playing in the ocean, no watching "The Man From Snowy River" a million times. We didn't jump off of our bunks or slide down the dorm stairs. We didn't build sand castles on the beach or run up and down the dunes. But it was still Seakrest and it was amazing! Here are some pictures from today.

The view from our back porch

Jered and I Take I. He looks just a little bit drunk...

Jered and I Take II. Really...?

Jered and I Take III. Him=Cute. Me=Not so much.

Jered and I Take IV. I was on his back. And after cutting his face off I just gave up on my quest for the perfect picture!

Jake and I making the face that he wanted us to. Love that!

And Ty aka Beebs. Doesn't get a whole lot cuter than this!
